Veterans For Peace Use Tombstones As Memorial to 9/11 War Dead Reply

Veterans For Peace Gainesville - Chapter 14 Header

Veterans for Peace in Gainesville, Fl placed more than 6,690 tombstones from dawn on May 25 through dusk on Memorial Day on NW Eighth Ave. between 22nd and 34th Streets as their Memorial Day Weekend event to most respectfully remember those troops who died in Afghanistan since 2001 and in Iraq since 2003.

Beginning in 2007 the display grew to require space on both the north and south sides of the road.

Veterans For Peace feels that numbers alone can not appropriately convey the enormous sacrifices made by our troops and the many family members who suffer the loss of sons, daughters and loved-ones.

The Code Pink Peace Ribbon was on display with a powerful message and new panels.  See the photos at Picasa
